About the Silver Lake Experience:
The Silver Lake Institute and Asbury Retreat Center partner to work on this venture. Beginning in 2013, we dreamed about and planned one event that would offer 4 days of activities designed to bring cultural, educational and spiritual opportunities to the Silver Lake communities, as well as draw in people from all over the region. For our first Silver Lake Experience (SLE) in August 2015, we brought in approximately 400 individuals from 7 states and one foreign country! Through workshops, presentations and performances, in 2017 our participants once again learned and enjoyed various aspects of art, music, literature, spirituality, cultural arts, social justice, cottage crafts, nature, history and much more.

About the Silver Lake Institute:
The beginning of The Institute was the incorporation of the Genesee Camp Ground Association in 1857 by an act of the New York State Legislature. The original 15 acre site on Silver Lake was purchased in 1872 and was named Silver Lake Assembly two decades later. The current name of the Silver Lake Institute (SLI) was made official by another legislative act in 1920. Over its history, SLI has hosted many cultural, educational and spiritual events.
